The New Mexico State Records mission was created to provide every citizen or interested party the right to detect, obtain, preview and examine public records, consequently ensuring residents of the state of New Mexico access in accordance with the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act, which specifies that in a democratic society every citizen has the fundamental right to access openly public records:

New Mexico State Records offers access to information collected from as far back as the year 1621 from 33 counties; thereby continuing to ensure New Mexico abides by the commitment of the United States of America to remain a “fair and just” society for all.
